I am part of a group of students working towards the de novo design of an ATP binding protein. My contribution is the computationally-guided de novo design of proteins to bind adenine and triphosphate, respectively. The data gathered in this project will improve our understanding of the physical principles relevant to ATP binding. Other laboratories will be able to use this knowledge to design therapeutics targeting natural ATP-binding proteins such as kinases and ABC transporters.
The extracurriculars I do, when I get the chance, are nature photography and lifting weights at the gym.
